Zawadi Connections

Food is a gift.
We are making sure everyone receives it.

Zawadi Connections is a Toronto not-for-profit building the connections our food system is missing — between local farmers and urban tables, between the land and the classroom, between neighbours who have never shared a meal.

How we work

Zawadi Connections brings food justice to life through three interconnected pillars. Each one strengthens the others.

Pillar 01

Grow

We build the infrastructure local food access requires — from a licensed industrial kitchen partnership at Richview Residence, to land stewardship with the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, to direct connections between local farmers and the communities that need their harvest.

Pillar 02

Learn

Food literacy is food justice. We build curriculums that can be used in classrooms, host educator workshops at Evergreen Brickworks, and partner with TDSB and OISE to make food justice a living part of Toronto's curriculum.

Pillar 03

Gather

We celebrate food as culture. The Nomadic Supper, our signature travelling farm-to-table dinner series, brings local farmers, chefs, and neighbours together in unexpected spaces across Toronto. Around the table, we are one.

Our Mission

A gift for every table in Toronto.

Zawadi means gift in Swahili. At Zawadi Connections, we believe access to fresh, nutritious, locally grown food is a gift every Toronto resident deserves — and we are working to make sure it reaches everyone.

Our mission is to build resilient connections between Toronto's local food producers and the communities they serve — through access, education, and celebration.

Stewarding food systems that restore dignity, connection, and resilience.
